The National Institute of Standards (NIST) has sponsored the GenX project to help advance the state of the art in neutral product data standards. This tools and technology project is applying the product standard expertise of the EIS Lab in conjunction with the expertise of the GT Manufacturing Research Center headed by Andy Dugenske.
This work initially started as an EIS Lab proposal to the IPC in July 1998 during the IPC-2510 consensus voting process. It became funded as a NIST-sponsored project on September 17, 1998.
